Last weekend, March 3, 2012, the Southern Studies department at Ole Miss held a remarkable homecoming, at the Lyric celebrating 25 years. Tyler Keith did it all , opened the show with a new band, kept everything ON TIME, was a gracious host circulating and talking, filling in on drums as needed, and making sound adjustments. All eight or so bands participating had a link with Southern Studies. Maybelle's Lovers link was Robbie Ethridge on bass. Seen in the crowd were Susannah F., Mary-Margaret M., Dave W and friends, Gregg J., Charles Wilson, longtime director, Anne-Scott B., and many others.
I stayed the whole 5 hours from 7 till midnight so as not to miss a band!! All were excellent. Fun group shown above, "Double-date." They do girl/boy pop songs from the 50s and 60s in a punk style. Tyler in background on drums.
